DEBRA PEARLMAN
Debra Pearlman is an artist based in Brooklyn. She works primarily in two-dimensional media, employing abstract elements of color and form with images derived initially from her street photographs, which often reference childhood. In paintings and works on paper, including collages and prints, these images may be repeated, with alteration of scale, materials, and orientation.
Pearlman’s work is included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The Walker Art Center, The New York Public Library, Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the Smith College Museum of Art, and the Museum Stzuki in Lodz, Poland. She has received support from The Meredith S. Moody Residency at Yaddo, The Peter S. Reed Foundation, Dieu Donne Residency, the Lower East Side Print Shop, Artist’s Space, and Blue Mountain Center. Reviews have appeared in The New York Times, Art in America, Time Out New York, The New England Art Journal, the Chicago Sun-Times, Gazeta Wyborcza, Dziennik Polski, and other publications.
